According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jarred Tinordi is looking to continue his career.

Friedman also reported that Tinordi was cleared last week after undergoing knee surgery during the off-season.

Teams looking for defensive depth could consider signing Tinordi, as he is a big blueliner with a good amount of experience. Perhaps that could be enough for him to at least land an AHL professional tryout (PTO) from a club. 

Tinordi last played at the NHL level during the 2023-24 season with the Chicago Blackhawks. In 52 games that season with the Central Division club, the 6-foot-6 defenseman posted zero goals, nine assists, and 67 penalty minutes. 

Tinordi spent all of this past season in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers, where he recorded one goal, five points, 29 penalty minutes, and a plus-5 rating. 

Tinordi began his career with the Canadiens, as he was selected by the Habs with the 22nd overall pick of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. In 46 games over four seasons with the Canadiens, the former first-rounder posted six assists, 66 penalty minutes, 55 blocks, 81 hits, and a minus-5 rating.
