Former Canadiens forward Joe Veleno has found his new home with the Rangers.

Just a few days after not receiving a qualifying offer from the Montreal Canadiens, Joe Veleno has found his new home.

According to Tony Marinano, the New York Rangers have signed Veleno to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

The Rangers are now the fourth Original Six team that Veleno has played for. This is because he has previously played for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, and, of course, Canadiens.

With the Rangers being in a retool, it makes sense that they are taking a chance on a former first-round pick like Veleno. He should fit well in their bottom six, just like he did with the Habs.

In 61 games during this past season with the Canadiens, Veleno posted two goals, three assists, five points, and 166 hits. This was after he had eight goals and 17 points in 74 games split between Detroit and Chicago during the 2024-25 season.
