This former Canadiens defenseman is heading back to the Hurricanes.
Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Reilly is heading back to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes have announced that they have signed Reilly to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.
Reilly signing with the Hurricanes comes after he spent the 2025-26 season with the Metropolitan Division club. In 42 games with Carolina last season, he posted one goal, nine points, and a plus-11 rating. The former Canadiens defenseman also recorded two assists in two playoff games during the Hurricanes' Stanley Cup championship run.
With this move, Reilly will continue to be a solid veteran depth defenseman for Carolina this season.
Reilly spent three seasons with the Canadiens from 2017-18 to 2019-20. In 90 games with the Habs over that span, the 6-foot-2 defenseman posted three goals, 20 assists, 23 points, and a plus-3 rating.
Reilly's time with the Canadiens ended during the 2019-20 season when he was traded to the Ottawa Senators. He has also had stints with the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, and, of course, Hurricanes, since his time in Montreal ended.
