This former Canadiens center has put together a career year with his new team.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been a nice surprise this season. At the time of this writing, they have a 37-25-12 record and 86 points. With this, they trail the Columbus Blue Jackets by only two points for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. When noting that the Flyers were expected to be among the bottom teams in the Eastern Conference, they have certainly impressed this campaign.
One of the big reasons for the Flyers' step forward this season has been former Montreal Canadiens forward Christian Dvorak. After signing a one-year contract with the Flyers this past off-season, Dvorak has been simply thriving in Philadelphia.
In 73 games this season with the Flyers, Dvorak has scored 16 goals and has set new career highs with 30 assists and 46 points. His previous career highs were 22 assists (2017-18 and 2021-22) and 38 points (2019-20). With this, there is no question that the former Canadiens center has been having a career year with his new team.
Dvorak has also become a very important part of the Flyers' roster in the process. This is because he plays in their top six and on both their power play and penalty kill.
Sometimes, a change of scenery can benefit a player, and this has certainly been the case for Dvorak in Philly. This also helped the former Habs center land a five-year, $25.75 million contract extension with the Flyers earlier this campaign, which kicks in next season.
