

On the second day of free agency, the Canadiens announced a new contract signing: 24-year-old forward Lias Andersson was inked to a one-year, two-way deal for the 2023-24 season.
Andersson, drafted seventh-overall by the New York Rangers in 2017, spent the majority of last season playing in the AHL for the Ontario Reign. There, the 6-foot-one, 190-pound center posted 31 goals, including three game-winners, and 28 assists in 67 games played.
A native of Smogen, Sweden, Andersson made his NHL debut in the 2017-18 season. He has played 110 career games with the Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings, scoring seven goals and earning 10 assists in that time.
Having also spent time playing for the Hartford Wolf Pack, Andersson boasts a career total of 160 AHL games with 58 goals and 63 assists for 121 points.
The 24-year-old also has experience in international play, having won a silver medal with as the captain of team Sweden at the 2018 World Junior Champions, where he was also named one of his team's top three players. Andersson also helped Sweden to win gold at the 2017-18 World Championship.
