You can now mention Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov's name in the same sentence as Kirill Kaprisov's one, the right winger has tied his record.

You can now mention Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov's name in the same sentence as Kirill Kaprisov's one, the right winger has tied his record.

Another week, another rookie of the week title for Montreal Canadiens' prospect Ivan Demidov. The electrifying forward played three games this past week and scored three goals and five points, averaging just over 19 minutes of ice time.

Meanwhile, former Canadiens' second round pick Zachary Fucale who only played four games in the NHL was named goaltender of the week with a stellar save percentage at .954 and a goals-against average of 1.03 in three games.

While it's great for Demidov to collect yet another rookie of the week distinction, it's not his biggest achievement of the week. That would be the fact he tied Kirill Kaprizov's record for most points in a season for a player under 20 years old. The Minnesota Wild's star forward put up 42 points in 49 games back in 2016-17, but he wasn't a rookie when he did it, unlike Demidov.

Right now, the Canadiens' prospect has 42 points in 50 games and his season is far from over. Of course, he will rack up many more points until the end of the year since SKA St. Petersburg still has 17 games left to play. While he will have played a lot more games than Kaprizov did when he set the record, Demidov's limited ice time this year more than likely prevented him from getting to the historic mark faster. His point per 60 minutes scoring rate stands at 3.93 while the Wild star's stood at 3.39 when he set the record.

It will be interesting to see how many points he has at the end of the season, since he will still be under 20 years old having been born in December. There's no doubt that as soon as his contract expires, signing him to an entry-level contract will be Kent Hughes' first order of business.
