Montreal Canadiens tough guy Arber Xhekaj will be heading back to the team's blueline after a quick stint at forward.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj played forward during the Habs' most recent contest against the Carolina Hurricanes on March 29. The 25-year-old had 5:11 of ice time and shifts, where he threw five hits.

Now, after a brief stint at forward, Xhekaj is set to move back to the Canadiens' blueline against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.

With Alexandre Carrier sidelined for the next two to four weeks due to injury, Xhekaj is set to play on the Canadiens' third pairing with Kaiden Guhle against the Bolts. Xhekaj will be looking to impress with this move back to Montreal's defense, as it could help his chances of staying in the lineup more regularly.

Xhekaj has appeared in 56 games this season with the Canadiens, where he has recorded one goal, one assist, 108 penalty minutes, and 154 hits. This is after he had one goal, six points, 118 penalty minutes, and 180 hits this past season for the Habs.
