The Montreal Canadiens have certainly had a busy summer. The Original Six club has brought in plenty of new players, with defenseman Noah Dobson being the most notable. Yet, they also landed an exciting new forward in Zack Bolduc, who could be a very nice surprise for them in 2025-26.
The Canadiens acquired Bolduc from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Logan Mailloux back in July. With the Canadiens having a surplus of young defensemen, they were willing to move on from Mailloux to land a winger in a promising winger in Bolduc.
Bolduc is coming off a strong breakout year with the Blues, where he set new career highs with 19 goals, 17 assists, and 36 points in 72 games. He was also impactful when it came to his physical style of play, as he recorded 108 hits on the year. With numbers like these, he should at least be a strong addition to the Canadiens' third line.
Yet, with Bolduc being just 22 years old and having plenty of potential, the possibility of him taking a big step forward in his development next season and cementing himself as a true top-six forward should not be ruled out. When looking at the Canadiens' lineup, there is a real chance that he will have a big role in their lineup. If he does, he could very well hit a new level offensively and become a key part of their group.
It is going to be fascinating to see what kind of season Bolduc has from here, but it is hard not to feel optimistic about the youngster's future.
