Nick Suzuki currently has 83 points. He is the leader of the Montreal Canadiens and their top point getter. He’s a valuable center who skates in the 95th percentile of the NHL and he could soon set another Canadiens mark.

Vincent Damphousse and Pierre Turgeon were the last two Canadiens’ forwards to have 90 or more points in 1995-96. Damphousse had 94 points and Turgeon had 96. I’m not sure Suzuki will reach those numbers but no Montreal player has had 90 or more points since these two gems and it is definitely within Suzuki’s grasp. He’s on pace for exactly 90 points.

Drafted in 2017, he has the sixth most points in his draft year. I don’t do re-drafts but considering Vegas drafted him 13th, that has turned out to be a tremendous selection until they were forced to trade him in the Max Pacioretty deal.

This was my scouting report on the talented prospect.

Nick Suzuki – 5-11 – 183 – C – Good speed. Looks like a goal scorer. Good hands. Two-way guy. plays the PK. Has a knack for getting short-handed goals. Very good on face-offs.

Funny, he has seven short-handed goals in his career. Some players can just sniff out the opportunities. I said at the time it put Montreal in a reset mode and soon they will be out of that mode so it shows real progress from this organization and Suzuki is a big reason why. He’s in the midst of his finest season.
