When Laval head coach, Pascal Vincent stated that David Reinbacher won’t be playing tonight but was traveling with the team. He quickly stated that it was precautionary. That was the smart thing to do. Otherwise, there would have been a lot of speculation about the defenseman.

Reinbacher has only played in 17 professional games in North America in his short career. He’s played in six this season so far with three points. That’s really good production considering how long he was away from the game.
Reinbacher has an LBI. I’m not going to speculate about what it might be. He’s only 20. The fact that they aren’t taking any chances with his health is great. He’s too valuable to the team to have him risk further injury. Let him play when there’s no risk of further injury. There is no pressure to do anything else.
I’m not sure when he’ll play again but the fact that he’s traveling is a good sign. That’s as much of a conclusion as you can draw from this.
I’m encouraged by his on-ice results and hope he can get in a fair amount of AHL games for the rest of the season. I wouldn’t have him play one minute in the NHL this year. It’s because of the change in speed. He has to get used to the AHL for speed and timing and that’s hard enough for a rookie.
Next season he will roll into camp and play in preseason games and then the team can figure out what’s best for him after a full summer of training.
