Sam Harris was drafted 133rd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. He’s a 6-1 left wing who plays for the Denver Pioneers who happen to be in the Frozen Four.
Here’s what college hockey expert and the owner of College Hockey News, Adam Wodon had to say about this prospect as we head towards the Frozen Four this weekend.
“A smaller forward but tough. Not the fastest, but he gets to the right areas, makes the right play, and is a lethal finisher. He's perfect for the Denver system, and it's a perfect place to develop, because he can do it in natural stages without having to be THE guy too fast. He's playing for one of the top 3 elite coaching staffs in college hockey.”
Harris has 23 goals and 12 assists in 42 games. 11 goals were scored on the power play. He has a chance to win a championship this season. He’s sophomore so now this is where negotiations can get tricky after this season. Harris was at 2024 Canadiens Development Camp and that’s good. I don’t know how the organization views him so we will soon find out.
Harris has eight game-winning goals including the one that sent Cornell packing. I would sign him if he is ready. He will be 22 in October so the development cycle on him is much shorter than some others. Give him a year in Laval and see where he’s at.
Denver plays Western Michigan tonight at 5PM.
