Once again this summer, hockey fans will be able to catch some three-on-three action in Montreal starting July 6-7, and three current Montreal Canadiens will take part in the proceedings.
Just like every year, there will be some Living Sisu three-on-three action at Hockey etcetera this summer in Montreal, and yesterday the lineups for the four competing teams were released. There are only three current Montreal Canadiens players listed this time around: Jake Evans, Alex Carrier and Zachary Bolduc. Laurent Dauphin, who spent the last two seasons with the Laval Rocket, is also amongst the participants, just like Joe Veleno, who didn’t receive a qualifying offer, and Joshua Roy, who was traded to the Utah Mammoth earlier this week.
The Living Sisu League is a three-on-three summer league with weekly games featuring professional hockey players, both men and women. This season, games will take place on Mondays (women’s league) and Tuesdays (men’s league), starting on July 6 and 7. You can buy tickets for a particular date or get a season ticket. There are two games played every night: the first starts at 5:15 PM and the second at 6:30 PM. A portion of every season's proceeds and their seasonal fundraising efforts go to the Pancreatic Cancer North America Foundation.
There are other NHL players involved: Kris Letang, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, Matthew Joseph, Anthony Beauvillier, Simon Benoit, Vincent Desharnais, Anthony Manta, Jonathan Aspirot, and Jeff Viel—basically, most of the regulars who spend their summer in town.
Nick Suzuki has taken part for a couple of years, but as a new dad, it’s understandable that he’s skipping a turn this season. Last year, Ivan Demidov was also involved, but it doesn’t seem to be the case this time around. Lineups tend to change as the season nears, with players getting back to town.
If you are curious and want to check it out, it’s safer to buy tickets in advance before making your way to Hockey Etcetera at 5290 Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse (H4T 1C9). Be aware that parking spots are few and far between, so arriving early is advisable. It’s not NHL hockey, but it’s as good as it gets in Montreal during the dog days of summer, if you need a hockey fix.
