For Montreal Canadiens' fans, there are some accounts on X formerly know as Twitter which are essential follows. The team itself of course, your favorite bloggers' accounts, traditional media focussing on hockey and, if you want to be puzzled everyday, the NHL Department of Players' Safety account.
There are also lesser known account which are worth keeping an eye on like Juraj Slafkovsky father's account. The man is so clearly proud of not only his son, but also his country that he posts pretty interesting stuff on both.
Of course, he had the news about Slafkovsky's massive eight-year extension but also of the contract signings of Slovakian players. Furthermore he shares internal content about his famous son which is always interesting to read because it generally looks at the Canadiens' winger from a different angle.
Today, on the two-year anniversary of his son being drafted, Slafkovsky senior shared the picture of both his boy and that of the three Slovak players who were drafted in the first round. Simon Nemec and Juraj's pal Filip Mesar flank the first-overall selection who's all smiles.
Of course, the Slovak father is not the only proud parent out there that's a good one to follow. Simona Xhekaj is also right up there. Arber and Florian's Mother is quite active on social media especially during the season. I'd love to see just how active she'd be if both of her sons were to play for the Tricolore at the same time...we might just find out soon.
Since things always comes in threes, here's our third star: the Delta Hockey Academy. No, it's not a player's parent, well not exactly, but it's the X account of Ian Gallagher's hockey school. I particularly like this one because when they have alumni selected in the NHL draft, they always post about it, meaning you know exactly who to call if you want the scoop on one of their former players. They had a very good year at the draft, five of their former charges were picked. Gallagher senior is still the one who trains his son in the Summer, useful to have a coach as a dad (as long as he doesn't interfere too much...remember Alex Galchenyuk?).
Those three accounts are only players' parents (sort of for the last one), but there are also former Canadiens who have great accounts to follow or podcast to discover. We'll probably get to that later in the Summer, feels like the puck drop is years away...
