The Montreal Canadiens recently made a notable move when they signed Chris Kreider to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
The Canadiens signing Kreider to a one-year deal came after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Seeing Kreider hit the free agent market this late into the off-season was undoubtedly a surprise, and the Canadiens took advantage of it.

Although Kreider is now 35 years old, it is clear that he is still capable of being a difference-maker in the NHL. During last season with the Anaheim Ducks, he posted 22 goals, 28 assists, and 50 points in 75 games. If he can produce similar numbers with the Canadiens while having a bargain $2.15 million cap hit, his contract will be a complete steal.
Furthermore, it was no secret that the Canadiens were in need of another top-six winger. Now, they have gotten just that by bringing in Kreider, and he has the potential to give Montreal's roster a significant boost because of it.
