Some players save the best for last and that appears to be the case regarding Canadiens 2022 4th rounder, Cedric Guindon, For the last three seasons with Owen Sound, he’s had some nice seasons, 59, 69, and 57 points. This season, as an overager, with a new team in Kingston, his numbers have been very impressive.
Kingston knew what they were doing when they traded for the center. About a month ago, he committed to the University of Vermont, that’s a good development move to get stronger, get an education, and at the age of 20, play 2-3 years at a good NCAA program.
Guindon has 17 goals and 26 assists in his first 29 games. He is the team's leading scorer and that has made me wonder what his future professional path looks like.
I like his cross-ice passing. He is hard to get the puck from and he can score 5-on-5 and on the power play. But he’s older, so we take that with a grain of salt.
Guindon averages 3:44 of power play time. That’s crazy but he does play in all situations and that’s very good for his development.
Guindon plays center or wing. He is 56% on face-offs according to InStat. I still think he will play on the wing when he gets to college but let's see what happens.
Right now things are going well but he’s two years away from the AHL. They no longer have his rights but they still can sign him. He is a bottom-six talent and he does win puck battles with good regularity so that versatility will help him down the road.
