Former Montreal Canadiens forward Logan Shaw had five points in two games to start the 2024-25 AHL season for the Toronto Marlies.

The American Hockey League began its regular season this past weekend. The Toronto Marlies, the minor league affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, picked up back-to-back victories over the San Diego Gulls thanks to five points from their captain, Logan Shaw.

In the Marlies' 4-3 and 4-1 wins, Shaw picked up five assists and, with five points, is tied with Luca Del Bel Belluz (Cleveland) and Trey Fix-Wolansky (Cleveland) for the scoring lead after the first weekend.

Shaw, initially drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round (76th overall) at the 2011 Draft, briefly played with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2017-18 season, scoring two goals and six points in 30 games.

From 2015 to 2022, he played in only 232 NHL games, scoring 16 goals and 39 points with five different teams. An AHL veteran, Shaw has played 451 games, scoring 134 goals and 293 points.

After his QMJHL career ended, he began his AHL journey in 2013-14, playing for several teams before landing with the Belleville Senators in 2020-21. He served as their captain for two seasons.

Eventually, Shaw joined the Mariles in 2022-23 and has been their leader for the past three years.

The Marlies don't play the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, until December 6. It will be interesting to see where Shaw and his team will be two months from now.
