Rocket defenseman Olivier Galipeau will be back on the blue line in Laval for the 2023-24 season, after signing a one-way AHL contract for the upcoming year.
The 26-year-old native of Montreal recorded three goals and six assists in 45 games played with the Rocket last season, his longest American Hockey League stint since his league debut in the 2018-19 season with the Providence Bruins. Galipeau also tallied five goals and 10 assists in 19 games played last season with the Trois-Rivieres Lions, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, and represented the Eastern Conference in the 2023 ECHL All-Star Classic.
After going undrafted, the 6'0, 203 pound left-handed defenseman has accrued 294 pro-level regular season games: 222 in the ECHL and 72 in the AHL. He won the ECHL's Kelly Cup championship with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2021. Galipeau also received the Emile Bouchard Trophy in 2018 for QMJHL defenseman of the year while playing for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan - the same year they won the CHL's Memorial Cup.
