This week, the Laval Rocket announced that they had agreed to terms for a one-year, one-way AHL contract for John Parker-Jones. In his rookie season last year, the 23-year-old played 20 games for Laval, scoring two goals plus one assist. At rookie camp, he appeared as a forward, but was only given space at Canadiens training camp as a defenseman. Parker-Jones had experience playing both positions earlier in his hockey career.

Head coach Jean-Francois Houle did utilize the 6'7", 230 pound skater in a right-wing role on occasion, as was needed due to a large amount of Rocket injuries and NHL callups.

The Brantford, Ontario native also spent time in the ECHL playing with the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the Canadiens organization. There he tallied seven goals and four assists in just 17 games played.

Parker-Jones signed his first AHL contract, a two-way deal, with Laval in October 2022 after playing one season of USports hockey for the University of Windsor - a path he chose after his last of four seasons spent with the Peterborough Petes was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
