The Montreal Canadiens ECHL affiliate split weekend series against Worcester Railers.

The Trois-Rivieres Lions visited the Worcester Railers (New York Islanders) for a pair of weekend games at the DCU Center. 

Saturday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 0 - Worcester Railers 4 

The Railers grabbed an early lead in the first period when former Lions defenceman Connor Welsh opened the scoring. Worcester had a 3-0 lead through two periods when they chased Zachary Emond from the game after adding a power play goal in the third period. Joe Vrbetic made 10 saves in the final 16 minutes as Trois-Rivieres failed to generate any offence before the final horn. 

Sunday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 5 - Worcester Railers 2 

Worcester took a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes after scoring a pair of goals in 2:04 in the final minutes of the first period. Trois-Rivieres tied the game early in the second period with goals by Jakov Novak and Nicolas Lariviere in a span of 59 seconds. Nolan Yaremko provided the Lions the lead with a power play goal later in the frame and added a second goal before the intermission. Yaremko completed a hat trick in the final minute of regulation on the power play. 

Roster News

On Tuesday, Xavier Filion was released by the Lions. The forward dressed for 12 games and obtained two points. 

On Saturday, Trois-Rivieres signed Tyler Holland to a contract. The forward just completed his fourth season with Concordia University, where he recorded 18 points in 26 games.

The Lions remain last place in the North Division, six points behind the final playoff spot. Trois-Rivieres returns home for a six-game homestand that begins on Wednesday against the Adirondack Thunder (New Jersey Devils). The week wraps up with back to back games against the Worcester Railers starting on Friday at Colisee Videotron.
