The Trois-Rivieres Lions returned to Colisee Videotron to host a weekend series against the Worcester Railers (New York Islanders).
Alex-Olivier Voyer scored the only goal through 20 minutes to give his team the lead. In the second period, the Railers scored three times in 2:07 before Voyer adding his second tally of the evening. Worcester converted two power plays and sealed the win with an empty net goal in the final moments.
"We weren't ready for the game. These are playoffs games for us. With this loss, the Railers move ahead (in the standings). Guys have to wake up on the penalty kill, block shots. We were lucky that Zachary Emond was there. Without him, it could have been a lot worse. It’s really time for us to wake up, because this has become critical. We don't respect the game, playing it the right way. When we play our finesse game, this is what happens,” said coach and general manager Ron Choules criticizing the squad.

Worcester had a 2-0 lead early into the second period when Justin Ducharme cut the lead by half with his 12th of the season. The Railers added two more goals before Cedric Montminy, Nicolas Guay and Voyer answered back to bring the rivals back to square one. The visitors broke the tie with under five minutes remaining and added the final nail in the coffin with an empty net goal.
Chris Jandric made a quick round trip drive between Trois-Rivieres and Laval this past week. The defenseman was recalled on Thursday as Logan Mailloux was questionable for Friday due to sickness and was sent back to the ECHL on Saturday morning as the Canadiens prospect was in good shape to play.
The organization updated the timeline of Matthew Boucher's upper body injury from week-to-week to out indefinitely. The forward has not played since January 13th against Atlanta.
Nolan Yaremko did not finish the game on January 28th in Worcester and is being evaluated week-to-week with a lower body injury.
Alex-Olivier Voyer was named the team's player of the month for January. In 11 games, the forward totaled four goals and seven assists.
With the two losses on the weekend, Trois-Rivieres is three points out of a playoff spot. On Friday, they will begin a doubleheader in Norfolk against the Admirals (Winnipeg Jets).
