Montreal Canadiens ECHL affiliate, the Trois-Rivieres Lions, split weekend matches at home.

The North Division leading Trois-Rivieres Lions faced the division's last place team Maine Mariners (Boston Bruins) in a doubleheader starting Friday at the Colisee Videotron.

    Friday: Maine Mariners 4 - Trois-Rivieres Lions 2

The Lions led 2-0 through 20 minutes before the Mariners bounced back with a pair of goals in the second period and another two in the third period to hand Trois-Rivieres their first loss at home of the season.

Tempers were running high throughout the game with several post whistle scrums including one late in the third period that led to 34 penalty minutes on one sequence with 3:45 remaining.

"We got what we deserved. We weren't there at all. We were flat. They worked harder than us. I saw this coming for a few games. We needed this in order to get a fresh start," coach and general manager Ron Choules said.

The bad blood between the Canadiens and the Bruins ECHL affiliates continued in the rematch, where the official handed out 68 penalty minutes, 54 of them in the third period.
