Montreal Canadiens ECHL affiliate, Trois-Rivieres Lions, split weekend matchup against the Reading Royals.

The Trois-Rivieres Lions headed into their weekend road trip with a perfect 3-0 record and in first place of the Eastern Conference. The Canadiens ECHL affiliate was in Reading over the weekend to face the Royals (Philadelphia Flyers) for a pair of matchups.

Saturday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 4 Reading Royals 3 (Shootout)

On Saturday, the Royals had a 2-0 lead midway through the second period before the Lions scored twice in a three-minute span to tie it. The teams exchanged a goal and shootout was needed as they remained tied through the seven-minute overtime. 

Miguel Tourigny, Canadiens seventh round pick in 2022, was the only scorer in the shootout and extended the club's winning streak to four matches. Joe Vrbetic made 32 saves in the victory. 

Sunday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 6 Reading Royals 7

Reading had 3-2 lead through 40 minutes on Sunday before the floodgates opened with eight goals scored in the final period. Trois-Rivieres ended on the wrong side of the 7-6 contest. 

Matthew Boucher recorded a hat trick, including one short handed goal. Boucher leads the team in goals (5) and points (8). 

Roster Moves

After losing forwards Joel Armia to Montreal, Jared Davidson and Gabriel Bourque to injuries and assigning Filip Mesar to the Ontario Hockey League, the Laval Rocket recalled John-Parker Jones from the Lions.

The 6-foot-7 inch forward had two assists in three games at the time of his recall, and averaged less than 10 minutes of ice time.

The Lions return to the Colisee Videotron to host the Newfoundland Growlers (Toronto Maple Leafs) three times over the weekend starting on Friday. The Growlers are owned by Deacon Sports Entertainment, former owners of the Canadiens ECHL affiliate.
