With just a handful of games left on the calendar, the Laval Rocket are in a playoff position, but it's a precarious position at best.

After putting forth great effort during their most recent road trip, and finally moving back into that coveted final playoff position in the AHL's North Division, the Laval Rocket went through a tough three-game stretch last week.

A loss against Utica to wrap up the aforementioned road trip, then only one win out of two games on home ice against Belleville now puts the Rocket in a precarious position for the remaining six games of the season.

The Belleville Senators, Utica Comets, Toronto Marlies, and Rochester Americans all have at least two (sometimes more) games in hand on Laval heading into the final three weeks of play. And after only securing two of six possible points last week, the competition to decide who will occupy that fifth and final position on April 21st just got a lot tighter.

Only seven points separate third place to seventh place in the division, and despite a good effort at most times last week, the Rocket left precious points on the table. This week, although they'll have a full week of practice before playing their next game, they'll face off against the top team in their division, followed by an Atlantic Division team that put quite a hurting on Laval the last time they met.
