The Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate got an early Christmas wish granted last week when they put together back-to-back wins for a 'perfect' week leading into the holiday break.
Prospects like Joshua Roy and Logan Mailloux helped the Rocket achieve that feat, as did more experienced skaters like defenseman Tobie Paquette-Bisson and forward Brandon Gignac. But two rookies really stood out in the Rocket's performances last week.
Goaltender Jakub Dobes backstopped the Rocket to both of their victories last week, extending his win streak to four games. The young netminder seems to be settling into a more comfortable rhythm now that he has three months of AHL experience under his belt, and the arrival of veteran goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo should help him to further focus on improving all aspects of his game.
Prior to his injury about a month ago, Sean Farrell had started to heat up in terms of point production. At the beginning of November, the right winger went on a four-game point streak, putting up three goals and four assists over that span.
As often happens during a young player's career, he then was held off the stat sheet for a few games, but in his return on Friday night, Farrell made an immediate impact. The 22-year-old boasted a plus-three rating in the game, and enjoyed a multi-point night.
