This week, the Montreal Canadiens and the Laval Rocket both announced additional contract signings at the NHL and AHL level. Let's learn more about them!

It may be feeling like the lazy, hazy days of summer, but Kent Hughes and general managers all across the NHL and AHL are still busy filling their rosters through contract extensions and free agency signings.

Earlier this week, Hughes ticked one more checkbox off his to-do list when he got restricted free agent Mitchell Stephens signed to a one-year contract extension.

Additionally, two more players were signed to AHL contracts this week. Both should be considered depth options who will likely spend a good amount of time in the ECHL playing for the Trois-Riveries Lions. They will serve as roster pieces to recall in the inevitable event that the Rocket's lineup gets depleted due to NHL callups and/or injuries.

To explore this week's free agency signings further, we invite you to listen to the latest edition of The Press Zone podcast, hosted by Amy Johnson. This weekly show provides Habs fans with the latest news, analysis, and commentary regarding the Laval Rocket, Canadiens prospects, and American Hockey League news.
