It's time to evaluate the work done by Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes during the off-season. How much progress has been made in rebuilding the Habs?
It's been a lengthy summer for fans of the Montreal Canadiens who have been patiently waiting for the return of the boys in bleu, blanc et rouge. Meanwhile, the Habs hockey operations team, led by Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes, have been working hard to improve the organization on a number of fronts. They have been guided by the principles of building a team who can achieve sustainable success in the years ahead.
How far did they advance the ball this summer? Our evaluation of their off-season work is the focus of this week's episode of Canadiens Connection podcast.
There were trades, decisions made on signing free agents, changes to the medical staff and, of course, adding nine talented young prospects via the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
In addition, we identified the latest buzz at the Bell Centre and at the training facility in Brossard. We highlighted three prospects: Owen Beck, Sean Farrell, and Filip Mesar. And we talked about a former Canadiens fan favorite, Alex Kovalev.
