With a winning record over the past few weeks, the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate finds themselves currently sitting in a playoff position.

After a miserable start to their season, including a nine-game losing streak, you might have written off the Laval Rocket for this year. But over the past couple of weeks, the team has certainly turned things around and now find themselves rising up the ranks in their division.

The Habs' AHL team suddenly finds themselves with eight wins in their last 10 games and enough points to put them firmly in a playoff spot in the North Division. The arrival of Arber Xhekaj on defense and Kasimir Kaskisuo in the crease seems to have stabilized the team and brought some confidence to a struggling young team.

Pocketing another two wins over the weekend against the Manitoba Moose, and earning a point in overtime last Wednesday against the Utica Comets, has Laval positioned to do something which was unthinkable just a month or so ago: make serious headway toward a postseason run.

In addition, newly-acquired forward Filip Cederqvist made his debut with the Rocket on Saturday, Emil Heineman was an impact player in his return from the NHL, and forward prospect Joshua Roy had a standout performance before getting his first callup to the Canadiens.
