This week, Kent Hughes sent Jeff Petry to the Detroit Red Wings in a trade. With Petry re-acquired and shipped out again in a span of nine days, it's tempting to suggest that the Montreal Canadiens are getting close to the 23-man roster that will start the season. That's the focus of this week's episode of Canadiens Connection podcast.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. There are jobs to be won and lost in training camp. But it's fair to say that we're unlikely to see any surprising additions over the next month. GM Hughes may move a player or two out but don't look for major adds.
We review major additions and deletions to the Canadiens roster that occurred during the off-season. We identify the significant changes that Montreal will make in the way they approach the salary cap this year. And we talk about expectations particularly with respect to their Atlantic division rivals.
The show examines a projected 23-man roster as well as forward lines and defense pairings.
In addition, we highlight the Canadiens news of the week including revelations about Paul Byron and Logan Mailloux.
