The Laval Rocket concluded their four-game homestand on Friday with an 8-4 victory against the Rochester Americans.
The story of the night is that the young players propelled the team for the first win of the season.
Jean-Francois Houle received a tip from Assistant Director of Hockey Development Scott Pellerin. Pellerin suggested to the coach that he should put Joshua Roy and Sean Farrell on the same line. Houle took the advice and it paid off.
Roy already had two primary assists before scoring three consecutive times and giving Laval a three-goal lead in the final period. All five of Roy's points were highlight reel worthy. The 20-year-old is now the American Hockey League's (AHL) leading scorer with nine points in four games.
Farrell had a slow start to the year, but the chemistry with Roy was instantaneous. The 21-year-old scored his first career AHL goal and added one assist. Scoring your first goal in the AHL goal isn't as special when you've already scored in the National Hockey League, but it was important for him to break the ice.
The third member of the trio Lucas Condotta extended his point streak to three games with a goal and assist.
Houle wanted his team to have a good start and the squad delivered a full 60-minute effort for the first time of the young season.
Friday's win is good for Laval's confidence as they head on the road for three games against Belleville, Rochester and Syracuse.
