On Wednesday, the Laval Rocket announced the signing of defenseman Noah Laaouan to a one-year, two-way AHL contract. The 22-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia played 57 games with the Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL) last season where he registered eight goals and 15 assists.

The 6-foot, 185-pound blueliner also appeared in his first two career AHL games, with the Tucson Roadrunners, but has not yet tallied his first AHL point. Undrafted, Laaouan began his junior hockey career with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the 2017-18 season, but soon moved to the Charlottetown Islanders where he acted as alternate captain for two seasons.

In 284 QMJHL games played, Laaouan tallied 31 goals and 134 assists, and was also named the league's Best Defensive Defenseman, winning the Kevin Lowe Trophy in back-to-back seasons from 2020-2022.

Earlier this week, the Rocket also signed goaltender Zachary Emond to a one-year, two-way contract, and both of these players will likely begin the season in the ECHL with the Trois-Rivieres Lions. Additionally, Laval has completed four one-year, one-way contract signings since free agency began, adding one forward, two defenseman, and a goaltender to the potential AHL roster for next season.
