But this game had to be considered a setback for Martin St. Louis' troops. The Habs were not in this game right from the drop of the puck. Ottawa controlled the first period, outshooting the Habs 17-6 and taking a 2-1 lead to the intermission. Cole Caufield scored for the fourth consecutive game. It was a difficult night for Cayden Primeau. The Canadiens 24-year-old goaltender made 32 saves while giving up five goals, several of the soft variety. Montreal's top line were outmatched throughout the game, with a combined minus-7 rating. Nick Suzuki was below 50 per cent at the faceoff dot.
