Nashville led in shots on goal and high danger chances, but the Kraken had the advantage at the final buzzer where it counted — on the scoreboard.

The Nashville Predators headed to Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Seattle Kraken for the second time this season. The two teams met on October 12, and the Predators earned the win at home as Juuse Saros recorded his first shutout of the 2023-24 season.
Tonight head coach Andrew Brunette went with the same lines that started the game against the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night.
The Kraken entered tonight's game with a 3-5-2 record. Seattle has been rotating goaltenders, and tonight Philipp Grubauer got the start in net.
The first period began with former Predator Eeli Tolvanen heading to the penalty box for a tripping call where he was soon joined by Adam Larsson. Larsson's stick knocked several of Gustav Nyquist's teeth out, and Larsson settled in for four minutes of personal reflection in the box.
Nashville had :31 seconds of five on three before Tolvanen came out of the box, and then Colton Sissons was whistled for a tripping call. Sissons served his time and came out of the box with a little time remaining on the Larsson penalty and made a perfectly executed low pass to Tommy Novak waiting in the slot to score a power play goal and give Nashville their first goal of the game.

Dante Fabbro made back to back visits to the sin bin midway through the period. The Predators' penalty kill survived the first but gave up a goal during the Kraken's second power play attempt as Oliver Bjorkstrand scored at 15:21 to tie the game.
A turnover in the offensive zone led to a two on one opportunity for Seattle and Jared McCann scored at 17:41 to give the Kraken a 2-1 lead and plenty of momentum as the teams' headed to their respective locker rooms at the end of the first period.
Much of the second period was spent with back and forth play. Filip Forsberg was buzzing around the offensive zone when he was held by Will Borgen, and Borgen headed to the penalty box at 14:53. The Predators scored their second power play goal of the game and tied things up on a Roman Josi slap shot at 16:34.
The Kraken answered back just :24 seconds later. Brian Dumoulin took advantage of bodies in front of Saros and scored with a shot from the top of the circle to give Seattle their one goal lead back.
Goaltender Philipp Grubauer was whistled for a trip as he stuck his right leg out, caught Liam Foudy, and sent Foudy into the boards at 17:50. Nashville wasn't able to convert on this power play chance, and the teams headed into the second intermission with Seattle leading 3-2.

The third period started much like the second with back and forth action as both teams pressed for the next goal. Saros came up with saves under pressure and Ryan McDonagh made diving play to break up a two on one chance.
Vince Dunn broke the third period scoring stalemate with a goal off the face off at 8:38 to give Seattle a two goal lead. Ryan McDonagh headed to the penalty box at 9:47 for a hook, but the Predators were able to kill off the penalty even with one of their best penalty killers sitting in the sin bin.
McDonagh blocked a shot shortly after coming out of the box and very gingerly made his way to the bench in obvious pain. He was somehow able to return to play shortly after the injury.
As time wound down, a trip by Tyson Barrie gave the Kraken power play another two minutes to play with at 15:44. Kraken got away with one as Yanni Gourde skated Grubauer's lost stick back to him which is normally an unsportsmanlike call but went unnoticed by the officials. The Preds killed off the rest of the power play,
With under two minutes to play Saros headed to the bench, and the Preds brought on the extra attacker. Nashville pressured but couldn't get a goal at six on five, and Nashville fell to Seattle by a score of 4-2.
