The Nashville Predators welcomed the 5-2 Toronto Maple Leafs to Bridgestone Arena Saturday night. The Predators were coming off of a disappointing home loss to the Vancouver Canucks while the Leafs entered the game on a three game win streak.

The Predators made a few line up changes ahead of the game. Phil Tomasino, who was a healthy scratch for the previous three games, returned to the line up, and recent waiver pick up Liam Foudy made his Nashville Predators debut against Toronto. Andrew Brunette also switched up players on a few lines.

Kiefer Sherwood             Tommy Novak              Luke Evangelista

    Roman Josi - Dante Fabbro

    Ryan McDonagh - Alexandre Carrier

    Jeremy Lauzon - Tyson Barrie

Juuse Saros got the start in net tonight for the Predators.

The Maple Leafs pressured with early quality chances, but Juuse Saros came up with impressive saves to keep the Leafs off the board.  Toronto's best chance came midway through the period as Ryan McDonagh fumbled the puck. William Nylander scooped it up and took off on a breakaway chance. but Saros came up with the save. Nylander did get on the board with a power play goal at 13:32 as Filip Forsberg sat for a slashing call.

Less than a minute later, TJ Brodie was called for roughing giving Nashville their first power play of the period. Ryan O'Reilly scored on his former team at 15:05 to tie the game. John Klingberg sat at 17:23 for a trip, but the Predators couldn't capitalize on their second power play chance. The teams headed into their locker rooms after the first period tied 1-1.

The Maple Leafs — and most of Bridgestone Arena — thought the Leafs scored early in the second period as a shot rang off the post. Each team had a few quality chances through the first half of the period, although Toronto generated more sustained offensive pressure. During one of those offensive stretches Mark Giordano cleaned up a loose puck near the net to give Toronto the lead once again at 12:46.

Just a few minutes later, former Predator Calle Jarnkrok headed to the box for a tripping infraction, and Ryan O'Reilly tipped a Filip Forsberg shot past Samsonov to score his second power play goal of the night. Toronto had a quick power play after O'Reilly's goal, but Nashville's penalty kill kept the Maple Leafs from capitalizing. The teams were tied 2-2 as they headed to the second intermission.

Nashville got their fourth power play chance early in the third when Toronto was called for too many men on the ice, but the Predators couldn't capitalize on the man advantage. Alexandre Carrier returned the favor at 7:53 after he sent the puck over the glass. Nashville was able to kill that penalty, and then immediately went back on the power play thanks to another Toronto "too many men" infraction. The Predators only had a minute of five on four before Tyson Barrie was called for a trip at 11:22 resulting in four on four play for a minute before the Maple Leafs had the remaining man advantage. Neither team could score, and the teams returned to five a side.

Play continued back and forth through the remainder of the third period, but regulation ended with the 2-2 tie. In overtime, the Predators won the face-off and kept possession of the puck for over two minutes before Roman Josi scored the game winner at 2:13 giving Nashville the 3-2 overtime victory.
