
Filip Forsberg and Team Matthews faced Team McDavid in the championship game at the NHL All Star Weekend. Each team won their first game in the shootout, and at the championship game they battled for not just bragging rights but $1 million as well.
The players in the championship game were definitely having fun but the intensity picked up from the earlier three-on-three games. The teams exchanged goals in the first period with Clayton Keller, Mitch Marner, and Auston Matthews scoring for Team Matthews, but the game was tied up after the first ten minute half.
Filip Forsberg gave his team the lead in the second half scoring on Connor Hellebuyck to give Team Matthews the 5-3 lead. With just about two minutes left, Team McDavid pulled their goaltender and Alex DeBrincat scored an empty net goal.
Never one to surrender easily Team McDavid went back to work, and Tomas Hertl scored to gave them back within two goals with 1:26 left to play. Forsberg created a defensive zone turnover that gave Matthew Barzal and Alex DeBrincat a two on none and Barzal scored to make the final score 7-4.
Forsberg ended his day with three goals for Team Matthews and will split the million dollar prize with his teammates. Forsberg and Alex DeBrincat led the three-on-three tournament with three goals each.

After the game, Matthews talked to Emily Kaplan and referred to Filip Forsberg as the steal of the draft.
"In my mind he was the MVP," Matthews told Kaplan in a post game interview.
Forsberg wraps up a successful All Star experience and can enjoy some time off as the Predators enjoy a break until a week from tonight when they take on Team Matthews teammate Clayton Keller and the Arizona Coyotes.
