After a great season of Forsberg outplaying a handful of top left wingers, he deserved to be amongst the top-5 this year.

NHL 25 is set to release on October 4 and the ratings for the top players at each position have been revealed. One player to note from the Nashville Predators is Filip Forsberg. After a career year and a stellar season, he is outside of the top-5 and shouldn't be.
Forsberg received a 90 overall rating, which puts him tied for 6th among left wingers. The five left wingers that are ranked higher include Artemi Panarin (95), Kirill Kaprizov (93), Matthew Tkachuk (92), Jason Robertson (91), and Kyle Connor (91). Let's break down how Forsberg has done more than enough to rank higher than more than one of the players above him in the game.
There is no arguing Panarin's and Kaprizov's place among left wingers, but after that, there should be a real debate. The video games have a history of putting points above all else when rating players, so if that's the case, Forsberg finished with the most goals (48) and points (94) out of the other three players to receive a better rating than him.
Connor had 34 goals and 61 points in 65 games, but even with a full season, he wasn't coming close to Forsberg. Connor has never reached 48 goals or 94 points in a season in his career as well. Sure, he has speed, but that doesn't overshadow everything else Forsberg does very well.
Robertson is a two-time 40-goal scorer, but so is Forsberg. Robertson has also scored a career high of 46 goals. He did top 100 points two seasons ago, but was under a point-per-game and only tallied 29 goals in 2023-24. It seems as though potential and age tops Forsberg's success just last season, even though he is in his prime.
I'm a little less inclined to argue Tkachuk should be lower than Forsberg because of his overall impact over not just last season, but the seasons prior. He stays healthy, is a two-time 40-goal scorer as well, put up back-to-back 100+ point seasons before 2023-24, hits, and is strong defensively. Some may want to have a conversation that Forsberg is better, but having Forsberg ahead of Tkachuk isn't necessary to give the Predators' star a spot as one of the top-5 left wingers in the game.
Forsberg has a lot more help around him this season, so there's a solid chance his numbers improve again. If that's the case, there will be no choice in moving him up to start next season. He is underrated and a very good hockey player in many regards.
