
Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos was named the NHL's Second Star for the week ending March 9.
Stamkos placed second in the NHL – behind First Star Nathan MacKinnon – with eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in three consecutive multipoint games for the Predators, who had a perfect week with wins over the Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken and Chicago Blackhawks.
Stamkos recorded a goal and two assists March 4 in Boston, snapping a career-long 13-game streak without a point. He followed that performance with a pair of assists, including the 600th of his career, at home against the Kraken two days later. Stamkos closed the week with a flourish, notching his 14th career hat trick in Nashville's 3-2 overtime win over Chicago on Saturday.
Stamkos capped off his hat trick with his 14th career overtime goal – and 91st career game winner – as he passed Mike Bossy on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list. Stamkos now ranks 23rd with 576 goals – one behind Mark Recchi's 577. which ranks 22nd.

Stamkos, a two-time Stanley Cup (2019-20 and 2020-21) and Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy (2009-10 and 2011-12) winner, has 21 goals and 20 assists in 63 games for Nashville this season. He ranks third on the Predators in scoring behind Filip Forsberg (57 points) and Jonathan Marchessault (48 points).
Stamkos also ranks among the Predators' top performers this season in game-winning goals (1st; 6), power-play goals (1st; 10), goals (2nd; 21), power-play points (4th; 15) and assists (5th; 20). He will look to extend his point streak to four games Tuesday when the Predators take on the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.
