The Nashville defenseman dominated the preliminary round with four points, fueling a relentless 9-0 shutout as the host nation remains undefeated and eyes its first World Championship.

For the first time in his professional career, Roman Josi has scored a hat trick.

The Nashville Predators captain scored the first three goals of Switzerland's 9-0 romping of Hungary on Saturday.

It's the Swiss's second 9-0 shutout and are still undefeated in preliminary play with one game left, against Finland on Tuesday. Switzerland, the host, is looking to win its first ever World Championship.

With 1:51 left in the first period, Josi toe-dragged the puck past a defender and let a shot go from the middle of the right face-off circle that beat goalie Leonard Genoni on the left post for a 1-0 lead.

29 seconds into the second period, Josi forced a turnover in the neutral zone, forcing a 3-on-1 break the other way. He'd keep the puck to himself and rip a shot from the left side that beat Genoni on the glove for a 2-0 lead.

Less than a minute after Josi scored, Bence Stipsicz was called for hooking, putting Switzerland on the power play. With 30 seconds left in the man advantage, Josi let a slapshot go from the high slot that beat Leonard on the glove side for a third time.

He wasn't done there as he had an assist on a Simon Knak goal to make it 9-0, finishing the day with three goals and an assist. It's his second three-plus point performance of this tournament.

In total, Josi has eight points (four goals and four assists) in six games with a plus/minus of plus-12.

Switzerland's final matchup against Finland in preliminary play with see Josi likely face-off against Predators teammate, Justus Annuen, who has become the Finn's go-to in the net this tournament.

Through three games, Annunen has a 1.33 goals-against average, .938 save-percentage and a 3-0-0 record.

That game will be played on Tuesday at 1:20 p.m. CST.
