After Sunday's trade, sending defenseman Jeremy Lauzon and center Colton Sisson to Vegas for defenseman Nicolas Hague, the Nashville Predators have extended a qualifying offer to forward Luke Evangelista.

He had reached the end of his entry-level contract, which was three years at $2,392,500, with an annual hit of $797,500.

General manager Barry Trotz told local media on Tuesday that the offer is still being negotiated between the Predators and Evangelista's representation.

"We're just trying to find a term that fits," Trotz said on Evangelista's qualifying offer. "I would like to go longer. The agents are hesitant to go longer on term."

This past season, playing on Nashville's second line, Evangelista recorded 32 points in 68 games.

This was the second consecutive year that Evangelista played his entire season in Nashville, appearing in 80 games and recording 39 points during the 2023-24 season.

Going into free agency, have about $12.09 million of cap space to work with.
