It was announced on Friday that the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL have sent Nashville Predators prospect Jakub Milota and a 2026 sixth-roun pick (CHA) to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
In exchange, the Eagles receive forward Éliot Litalien, goalie Félix Hamel and defenseman Samuel Kupec.
Milota, a goalie whom the Predators selected in the fourth round (99th overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, spent the last two seasons with the Eagles. During that span, he posted a record of 36 wins and 30 losses.
“It was one of the best experiences of my life,” Milota told The Hockey News in October 2024 on getting drafted by the Predators. “Every young hockey player’s dream is to be drafted. I’m so grateful. I know it’s just another step closer to my dream of reaching the NHL. For a goalie, it’s one of the best organizations to be a part of.”
The 6-foot-1, 168-pound Czechia native took part in a Predators development camp following the draft. He also won a bronze medal as part of Team Czechia at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.
The 19-year-old netminder also took part in the 2023 under-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He led Czechia to the gold-medal game on his home soil before falling to Canada in overtime despite a 37-save performance.
Milota has fluid movement in the crease and he seals the posts quite well, according to THN’s Tony Ferrari. While he may not be the biggest goaltender, his skating is solid.
At 19, Milota still has a ways to go in development, and it will be interesting to watch his performance with a different team next season.
