Nashville bolsters its offensive depth, securing the versatile playmaker to a multi-million-dollar deal as General Manager Chris MacFarland continues an aggressive offseason overhaul of the roster.
Nashville continues to expand on its depth at forward, signing Utah Mammoth forward Alex Kerfoot to a two-year, $7 million contract with a $3.5 million annual cap hit on Wednesday.
The new contract is a $500,000 raise from his previous one-year contract with the Mammoth.
Kerfoot, a 5-foot-11 lefty, played in 34 games last season, scoring 13 points off seven goals and six assists. Notably, he suffered a core muscle injury in late October and had to undergo surgery, missing 8-10 weeks of the season.
The previous season, Kerfoot recorded 28 points in 81 games off of 11 goals and 17 assists.
In signing Kerfoot, Nashville has around $11 million in cap space to work with. It also acquired Dallas Stars forward Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin via trade on Wednesday.
This is the second signing that Chris MacFarland has made as the Predators' general manager, previously signing Jack Drury to a five-year, $22.5 million contract on Monday.
