The Nashville Predators suffered an ugly 8-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 1. With this, they have now fallen to a 27-40-8 record on the season.
While it was a bad night for the Predators, forward Luke Evangelista was one of the club's only bright spots. The 23-year-old forward recorded two assists and a plus-1 rating in the contest.
This is just the latest of solid performances from Evangelista. The Toronto, Ontario has been noticeably heating up lately, posting three goals and eight points in his last seven games alone. This is undoubtedly encouraging production to see from the young forward
When playing at his best, Evangelista has shown that he can produce decent offense at the NHL level. For example, just this past season with the Predators, he set career highs with 16 goals, 23 assists, and 39 points in 80 games. While he has had some struggles offensively at times this season, he is enjoying a hot stretch of play now.
Evangelista has the potential to blossom into a very important forward for the Predators as they try to get things back on track. It will be interesting to see how he builds on his play from here.
