Head coach Andrew Brunette isn't one to mince words. He didn't mince them last night after the Predators' loss to the Calgary Flames. Brunette spoke with Nashville Predators Senior Content Manager and Beat Reporter Emma Lingan and said he was "really disappointed" in the team.

It was a disappointing performance from a Predators team that has shown they can perform far better than they did against the Flames last night. Nashville was wildly outshot and the Flames scored four unanswered goals after the Predators took a fortunate 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Even that first period was dominated by the Flames who had a 75.6 Corsi for percentage and seven high danger chances after the first twenty minutes. Throughout the game, Nashville struggled to establish offensive zone time in front of a shaky Jacob Markstrom, and the Preds recorded just 18 shots on goal in total. Nashville couldn't connect on passes through the neutral zone, turned the puck over, and lost important face-off battles.

The one area that could be thought of as a bright spot in the game was Nashville's penalty kill which has been one of the worst in the league so far this season against top power play units. Even without Ryan McDonagh who was out with a lower body injury, Nashville was able to keep Calgary from scoring on the man advantage. There is only a little consolation in that Calgary ranks 20th in the league on the power play so far this season.

Brunette has had games where he didn't like one or two periods of play, but last night's loss was sixty minutes of underperforming hockey from Nashville that left their head coach wholly disappointed. The team will have a lot of improvements to make in a short time as they head to Winnipeg to take on the 6-4-2 Jets in a Central Division game tomorrow night.
