On Halloween night, the New Jersey Devils announced that the team had agreed to terms with goaltender Jacob Markstrom on a two-year contract worth $12,000,000, with an annual average value of $6,000,000.

The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

The Devils acquired the 35-year-old goaltender from the Calgary Flames on June 19, 2024, in exchange for Kevin Bahl and New Jersey’s first-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft (18th overall, used to select Cole Reschny).
