
NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers are set to face off in the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, April 18.
The matchup marks the seventh Stanley Cup Playoff series between the Hudson River rivals and the first postseason matchup since the Devils eliminated New York in the 2011-12 Eastern Conference Final.
New Jersey won the regular season series 3-0-1. Jack Hughes has earned at least a point in his last five regular season games versus the Rangers and has 15 points in 16 career games versus New York.
The Devils enter this series as one of the best teams in franchise history. The club set a franchise record for 52 wins in a single season, their 26 comeback wins ranked first in the NHL for the 2022-23 season, and set the franchise record with 112 points earned in a single season for the standings.
