The New Jersey Devils invited multiple players to their training camp on professional tryouts (PTOs). Luke Glendening is one of them, and fans should be keeping an eye on him as the preseason continues.
Glendening is a 12-year NHL veteran who is well-known for his success at the faceoff dot and his defensive play. Furthermore, he is not afraid to throw the body, so he could be a decent fourth-line forward or even a depth forward for the Devils if they end up signing him for the season.
Glendening spent this past season with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he recorded four goals, seven points, 105 hits, and a 57.0 faceoff percentage. Overall, the veteran forward did not make the most impact offensively, but he was still reliable for the Bolts at the dot and gave them some grit.
Glendening is expected to be in the lineup for the Devils for their Sep. 23 matchup against the New York Islanders and will be looking to impress. If he does put together a strong performance for the Devils, it could certainly help his chances of earning a contract for the season from the Devils. It will be fascinating to see if he can do just that from here.
