SUNRISE, F.L. -- On Thursday night, the Florida Panthers held "90's Night" to continue celebrating the organization's 30th Anniversary celebration.
In attendance was New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald, who the Panthers selected during the 1993 NHL Expansion Draft.
He was honored alongside Bill Lindsay, Ray Sheppard, and Brian Skrudland.
Fitzgerald was instrumental in the Panthers' 1996 Stanley Cup run, including his game-winning goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"We were highly competitive. We had great goaltending, great discipline," Fitzgerald said to Panthers reporter Jameson Olive. "We played how we needed to play to forge forward. This (current Panthers) team does the same thing. You saw last year where they were, where they had to get to, and where they ended up."
Fitzgerald's Devils will face his former team on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Sunrise, Florida, at 6:00 P.M. The game will be televised on MSGSN.
