NEWARK, N.J. -- On Wednesday, Jan. 24, the New Jersey Devils announced that forward Michael McLeod and defenseman Cal Foote have requested and been granted indefinite leave of absences from the team.
McLeod is in the midst of a career season. Through 45 games, he scored a career-high 10 goals and has 19 points (his career-high is 26). He has been one of New Jersey's most consistent players since the season opened in October.
With injuries to Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes through the first half of the season, the Mississauga, Ontario native found himself playing an elevated role. He has offensively contributed and has been heavily relied upon in the face-off circle.
Foote was recalled to New Jersey on Jan. 9 and has appeared in four games and has one assist.
The Devils' injury list is still quite extensive, as the team is still missing several forwards, including Hughes, Tomas Nosek, and Nolan Foote. On the blue line, the club is missing Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegnethaler, and Brendan Smith.
