The Devils currently have three goaltenders on their roster.
NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils goaltender Nico Daws received his second call-up of the 2023-24 season.
Ahead of the team's morning skate on Wednesday, the organization announced that the 23-year-old was recalled from the Utica Comets (American Hockey League). He was the first player on the ice and was joined by Akira Schmid and Vitek Vanecek.
After his team's morning skate, head coach Lindy Ruff addressed the call-up.
"NHL reps. He's here getting some practice time with NHL shooters," he said. "Just the fact that he's played well there. We know he's one of our three goalies that we think highly of. The fact he's stepped back in and played well, let him come up here and feel some NHL shooters."
Daws has appeared in three games for the Utica Comets this season, earning a 1-2-0 record with a 2.39 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
The team previously stated in their preview that Daws will not start versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night.
