EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- Hockey broadcaster Kevin Weekes and David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported the New Jersey Devils will host the Philadelphia Flyers at Metlife Stadium as part of the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series in February of 2024. It will be part of a two-day event, with the New York Islanders hosting the New York Rangers.

This marks the second outdoor game for the Devils as they hosted the Rangers at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 26, 2014. New Jersey fell by a final score of 7-3 in front of the 50,105 hockey fans in attendance. Below was the lineup head coach Pete DeBoer utilized.

Jacob Josefson - Travis Zajac - Jaromír Jágr

Patrik Eliáš - Dainius Zubrus - Damien Brunner

Ryane Clowe - Adam Henrique - Michael Ryder

Ryan Carter - Stephen Gionta - Steve Bernier

    Andy Greene - Mark Fayne

    Éric Gélinas - Anton Volchenkov

    Bryce Salvador - Marek Židlický

    Martin Brodeur

    Cory Schneider

The Flyers have played five outdoor games, most recently on Feb 21, 2021, at Lake Tahoe. Philadelphia has won one outdoor game and lost four. This will be the first time the Flyers and Devils will meet outdoors.

Metlife Stadium is the home of the New York Jets and New York Giants and is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL, with a capacity of 82,500. If the game is a sellout, it will become the third-highest-attended outdoor game behind the 2014 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium (105,491) and the 2020 Winter Classic at Cotton Bowl Stadium (85,630).

Brendan Smith and Ondrej Palat have both appeared in outdoor games throughout their careers, as well as Tomas Tatar and Erik Haula, who are both set to be unrestricted free agents this summer.

As more information becomes available regarding the outdoor game, we have you covered here at The Hockey News.
