The Flyers have played five outdoor games, most recently on Feb 21, 2021, at Lake Tahoe. Philadelphia has won one outdoor game and lost four. This will be the first time the Flyers and Devils will meet outdoors.
Metlife Stadium is the home of the New York Jets and New York Giants and is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL, with a capacity of 82,500. If the game is a sellout, it will become the third-highest-attended outdoor game behind the 2014 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium (105,491) and the 2020 Winter Classic at Cotton Bowl Stadium (85,630).
Brendan Smith and Ondrej Palat have both appeared in outdoor games throughout their careers, as well as Tomas Tatar and Erik Haula, who are both set to be unrestricted free agents this summer.
