All the sights and sounds from Day 2 of New Jersey's development camp.
Development camp week continues for the New Jersey Devils. The young prospects were on the ice bright and early as they wrapped up their final practice of the week before playing two scrimmages to close out their camp. After two high-paced on-ice sessions at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House, the players traveled to a nearby hospital to participate in a community outreach event.
2023 Prospects Development Camp Roster
The Devils released their 33-man roster on Monday morning. Included are 19 players drafted by New Jersey, five American Hockey League (AHL) players, and nine invites. This week will feature four goaltenders, 11 defensemen, and 18 forwards.

News and Notes
- The Devils once again held two on-ice sessions. The first group was on the ice from 8:45 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., followed by the second group who were on the ice from 10:45 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. It was their final practice before the two scrimmages that will be held on Wednesday and Friday.
- While the second group was on the ice with the staff, a few players from the first group, along with Chase Stillman, who is not skating this week, stepped out of the locker room and watched their fellow participants on the ice by the glass.
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Hospital Visit
After the second group finished their on-ice-session, the players grabbed lunch before departing for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. They were scheduled to visit patients and employees and do various activities with staff, pediatric, and adult patients.
Training camp participants were split into four groups to visit the Pediatric Health Center, Wellness Center, Adult patient area, and the A5/C5 pediatric inpatient playroom area.
Devils' host and team reporter Catherine Bogart was reporting on-site and spoke to Chase Stillman about what doing a community event like this means.
"It's what we're here for," Stillman said to Bogart. "At the end of the day, we play the game for the fans, and we wouldn't be a sport without the entertainment side of it. Fans really do mean everything to us, so anytime we can give back, it's really the best thing we can do."
Inside the Locker Room
Leddy on attending development camp: "For any first-time player coming into these camps, you're going be nervous. Maybe you don't know a lot of people, maybe (you're) from Russia, and you may not know anyone, for example. Hockey's a special sport; everyone's so outgoing here. My roommate is Chase Stillman, and we all know how Chase is. He's the biggest social butterfly there is. Just coming here, this is a great group of guys, and I love coming to this camp to meet new guys and see the guys that I don't see that often. It's an honor."
Parent on his current goals: "I want to show what I can do. I think I finished pretty strong in the playoffs last year, so I want to bring that during camp. My goal is to sign a contract with the Devils. "
Vilen on Lenni Hameenaho: "Great draft pick for you guys. He's got a great shot. I think he can score a lot of goals for this team, and I'm just happy that you guys drafted him."
Fitzgerald on what his dad taught him and advice he's given: "He's taught me how to handle myself off the ice and how to treat people. For advice, I'd say the biggest thing he's told me is don't have any nerves. Just play hockey. You've been doing it your whole life, have fun (and) don't be nervous. Just to be myself out there."
